Vitamins that can be taken in the morning
Vitamin B12, vitamin C, iron, magnesium and zinc are often taken in the morning. A short guide to why, and which other supplements are used for energy.

- Vitamin B12. A water-soluble vitamin that can help with focus, mental clarity and mood. It is best to take it on an empty stomach with water in the morning to avoid affecting sleep.
- Vitamin C. A good option to take in the morning because of its antioxidants, which can boost sunscreen. Vitamin C can also help with hyperpigmentation, skin tone and collagen production.
- Iron. Best taken on an empty stomach, like first thing in the morning, to maximize absorption. Vitamin C can also help with iron absorption, so you can take your iron supplement with fruit juice.
- Magnesium. A mineral that can help with energy and heart health. It can be found in nuts, seeds, whole grains and leafy greens, but most Americans don’t get enough.
- Zinc. Can help support the immune system, aid in wound healing, and help the body use carbohydrates, protein and fat for energy. Zinc can be low in older people and anyone under a lot of stress.
Other vitamins and supplements that can boost energy include vitamin D, CoQ10, creatine and L-theanine.
